Support and Guidance on Your Leadership Journey

What It Is
A mentor is a guide who not only has relevant experiences and skills, but also a deep commitment to the growth and development of the mentee.   The mentee is the one who is on the leadership journey.  The mentee uses the mentor as a sounding board for ideas and as a resource for their personal growth as a leader.  

The mentor may help the mentee gain perspectives on his or her strengths.  This work involves the mentee learning how she prefers to communicate, make decisions, receive information, re-energize, and work.  With this perspective and insight the mentee is guided in maximizing her strengths and working with others who may have other strengths.  The mentor may also provide feedback as a result of observing the mentee in interactions with others in the workplace.
